Pirates Fall to Louisiana to Close Lousiana Classics

How it Happened
The Pirates' second game against Louisiana began much like the first. At the end of the first inning, The Hall found themselves down 1-0 after the host Cajuns converted a leadoff single to an early advantage. A single in the top half of the second would put the Pirates in the scorebook, but a five-run bottom frame from Louisiana would send the Pirates to the third inning down 6-0.
In the top of the third, a Katey Brennan walk provided the Pirates with a momentary burst. However, Taylor Hill was thrown out at second base the following at bat, ending the Pirates chances in the third. The Pirates made a pitching change in the third, and Karissa Dupuis stranded two runners in a scoreless inning for the Pirates.
The fourth inning began with a leadoff Kelsey Carr walk, who had Angelina Benitez run for her, but the Pirates quickly found themselves in a two-out situation. Andrea Perez launched a two-out double down the line, giving the Pirates a strong chance to get on the scoreboard. Caroline Hobbes would help the Pirates get a run back when she hit a ball that forced the Cajun's third baseman to commit an error. With the Pirates deficit now at five, 6-1, and two runners on, the Pirates could still add more runs. A ground out would end the inning for the Pirates, however, and both sides would move on to the bottom of the inning.
The fifth inning saw the Pirates attempt to rally once again with two outs. Hill first singled to start the potential rally, with Carr battling her way to a walk in the next at-bat. The Pirates flied out in the next at bat, however, putting the onus on the pitching to maintain the gap. Dupuis kept the Pirates in the game, however, providing a 1-2-3 inning and sending The Hall to the sixth still facing a five-run deficit.
The Pirates once again had a chance at another rally in the sixth inning. Hannah Alexander led off the inning with a single, before Andrea Perez and Caroline Hobbes both reached base on fielder's choices. Jessica Muniz, who ran for Alexander, was thrown out as a result the former's at-bat, but Jenna Belvins walked to load the bases with one out. A double play would end another Pirates rally, however, leaving one more inning for the Pirates to draw the game even. They would never get the chance, however, as three runs by the Cajuns in the bottom of the sixth handed the Pirates a 9-1 loss.
