OMAHA, NEB. – Graduate student Kaydan Lawson (Cleveland, Ohio) scored a season-high 11 points, but the Seton Hall women's basketball team fell at Creighton, 72-56, snapping its three-game win streak on Wednesday.

Seton Hall didn't have an answer for Creighton's long-distance shooting. The Bluejays entered the game averaging 9.4 made three-pointers per game, and finished tonight's contest 16-for-40. Their 40 attempted three-pointers are the most by any BIG EAST team this season… by six. Creighton made only eight trifectas in the teams' first meeting in Walsh Gym on Jan. 11.

The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for The Hall and drops it to 16-6 overall and 8-3 in BIG EAST play.

Lawson had 11 points, the most she's had in a Seton Hall uniform, to go with five rebounds and two assists. Sophomore Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) had 11 points, three rebounds and a team-best three steals. Freshman Jada Eads (Orlando, Fla.) saw her double-digit scoring streak snapped at 15 games. She finished with eight points, five rebounds and three assists.

THE STORY:
Similar to the last time these teams met, the Pirates had trouble with Creighton's long-distance shooting. Creighton's first 12 points were scored on four made three-pointers. A free-throw by Eads gave Seton Hall a 10-9 lead with 2:26 left in the first, but Creighton closed the quarter with an 8-0 run to grab a 17-10 lead after 10 minutes.

A three-point play by Eads cut Seton Hall's deficit to five points, 31-26, with only 1:46 left in the half, but Creighton scored the last seven points of the second quarter to take a commanding 38-26 lead into halftime. Creighton entered the game averaging 9.4 made three-pointers per game, and was 9-for-23 from downtown in the first half alone.

In the third quarter, every time the Pirates seemingly built some momentum, a Creighton three-pointer quashed it. A layup by Faith Masonius (Spring Lake, N.J.) cut The Hall's deficit to 40-33, but Creighton answered with an 11-2 run to extend its lead to 51-35 with 2:25 left in the quarter. Seton Hall's deficit never got under 13 points for the remainder of the game.

THE NUMBERS:

Seton Hall was 21-for-59 (35.6%) from the floor for the game, while Creighton was 25-for-61 (41.0%). The Hall was 3-for-12 (25.0%) from three-point range, while the Bluejays were 16-for-40 (40.0%).
Lawson had 11 points on 4-for-8 shooting to go with five rebounds and two assists.
Creighton out-rebounded The Hall, 46-to-31, which included a 8-to-4 edge on the offensive glass.
Catalon had 11 points on 4-for-9 shooting with three rebounds and three steals.
Seton Hall was 11-for-16 (68.8%) from the free-throw line, while Creighton was 6-for-6 (100%).
Eads finished with eight points, five rebounds and three assists.
Seton Hall forced 13 turnovers, while the Bluejays forced seven. The Hall had a 13-to-5 advantage in points-off-turnovers.

THE NOTES:

Seton Hall falls to 16-6 overall and 8-3 in BIG EAST play, while Creighton improves to 19-4 overall and 11-1 in conference play.
The Hall is now 6-22 all-time against the Bluejays and has dropped the last seven games to them.
Today was the 131^st career game played for Wright, which makes her Seton Hall's all-time leader.
Graduate student Ramani Parker (Fresno, Calif.) made her Seton Hall debut after missing the season's first 21 games while rehabbing an injury. The 6-foot-4 forward had four points on 2-for-3 shooting.
It's the 18th time in 22 games that the Pirates have forced more turnovers than their opponent.
