Ginevra Zavagli and Renee Rane tie for seventh place among all individual golfers.
OKATIE, S.C. – Freshman Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) shot a 3-over-par, 75, in Monday's final round to help the Seton Hall women's golf team to a third-place finish at the 2024 BIG EAST Championship at Callawassie Island Golf Club.
Â
Despite this being her first year as a collegian, Rane looked every bit the veteran playing in her first BIG EAST Championship. On Monday, she had the top Seton Hall round with a birdie and 14 pars in route to a 3-over-par, 75. For the tournament, Rane tied for seventh among all golfers with a 7-over-par, 72-76-75-223. It's her first career top-10 finish.
Â
Xavier's Emma Welch won the individual BIG EAST title at 3-under-par.
Â
As a team, The Hall shot a 21-over-par, 309, in round three, but scores were up across the field on Monday. Temperatures dipped 25 degrees from play on Saturday and a steady wind elevated scores. The Hall entered the tournament as the fifth-ranked team, but placed third with a 42-over-par, 300-297-309-906.
Â
Xavier won its fifth-straight BIG EAST title and will represent the conference in the NCAA Tournament. Georgetown placed second, only two strokes behind the Musketeers.
Â
Seton Hall's lone senior Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) carded a 7-over-par, 79, in her final collegiate round, but it didn't take the shine off a fantastic final tournament. Zavagli tied Rane for seventh among all individual golfers with a 7-over-par, 70-74-79-223. It's her best performance at a BIG EAST Championship in four trips to the event. It was also Zavagli's 33rd consecutive appearance in Seton Hall's starting lineup.
Â
Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) also impressed in her first BIG EAST Championship. In fact, it was only the second time Tran has been in Seton Hall's lineup. Tran finished round three with a 6-over-par, 78. For the three-day event, she tied for 15th with a 14-over-par, 78-74-78-230.
Â
Tying Tran for 15th place was junior Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain). She was one stroke better on Monday, finishing with a 5-over-par, 77, but tied Tran with a 14-over-par, 80-73-77-230, for the tournament.
Â
Sophomore Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was a third-round substitution for the Pirates. She carded a 10-over-par, 82, on Monday.
