Brooker and Campbell Post Solid Seton Hall Debuts at Fordham Invitational

Bronx, N.Y. - Freshmen Imogen Brooker (London, England) and Niamh Campbell (Phoenix, Ariz & Manchester, England) went 3-0 as a tandem in doubles to lead the Seton Hall tennis team in its 2023-24 debut at the Fordham Invitational. Brooker also won two singles matches.

The weekend was set up with the Pirates facing host Fordham on Friday, Wagner on Saturday and Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday.

Brooker and Campbell opened their Pirates career with a doubles win over Fordham's Lorraine Bergmann and Camila Baeza, 6-3. Brooker added a straight sets win over Fordham's Sofie Siem, 6-3, 6-3. On Saturday, Brooker and Campbell defeated Wagner's Gabrielle Perraudin & Dariana Vera, 6-2, and both of them notched singles wins as Brooker topped Paula Ysabelle Uy, 6-2, 6-4, and Campbell dispatched Vera, 6-4, 6-1. On Sunday, Brooker and Campbell completed their doubles sweep by topping FDU's Alena Kubanova & Gauri Bhagia, 6-4.

The other Pirates to come away with multiple wins over the weekend were graduate student Aina Plana Ventosa and freshman Anastasia Sereda, who combined in doubles to beat Fordham's Anlin Xie & Xiaowei Hu on Friday and FDU's Valentina Silva & Mireia Turro on Sunday.

Next up for Seton Hall is a trip to the Army West Point Invitational Sept. 22-24.
