Lewisburg, Pa. – Michael Klimaszewski (London, England) and Quinn Murtha (Cumming, Ga.) picked up a pair of victories each as the Pirates competed in the Bucknell Fall Invite on Saturday afternoon.
Klimaszewski's wins came in the 100 Free and 100 Fly to add to his three overall wins from the season opening meet at Rider. The sophomore tied for the top spot in the 100 Free with a time of 45.58 as he and Binghamton's Henry Shemet touched the wall simultaneously. Klimaszewski would later add a win in the 100 Fly with a time of 49.59.
Murtha repeated his performance from the season opener, winning both the 1M and 3M events. The junior narrowly edged out teammate Trevor Post (Bay City,Mich.) for first place in the 1M, winning the event by less than three points. Murtha's win in the 3M also came in a close race, as his total score of 305.60 was good enough for the victory. The top three finishers in the 3M, including Post in third place, each finished with a total score of 300 or higher.
Three other Pirates picked up victories on the afternoon. Gideon Langenbusch (Oberhausen, Germany) opened the meet with a win in the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.04. Kevin Cary (West Chester, Pa.) took the victory in the 500 Free with a time of 4:36.63 in addition to a pair of third-place times in the 400 IM and 200 Free.
Other notables for the Pirates came from Clil Halevi (Kafar Hadranim, Israel), who took third place in the 200 IM in 1:57.37, and Ben Endersby (Caldwell, N.J.), who claimed second in the 100 Breast with a time of 56.54. A pair of freshmen also picked up third-place times on the day, with Chris Jackson (Maywood, N.J.) completing the 100 Back in 52.44 and Toma Adam (Bacau, Romania) finishing the 50 Free in 21.10.
