New Providence, N.J. -Â Freshman Arabella Moen and sophomore Emily O'Donovan picked up singles wins but the Seton Hall women's tennis team dropped a close match to Bucknell, 4-2, Saturday night at Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness. The loss snapped the Pirates' three-match winning streak.
The two teams played the clinch rule with No. 1 singles going unfinished.
Moen was solid in her match against Laurel Utterback at No. 4 singles, taking the first set, 6-2, and winning the second in a tiebreak.Â
O'Donovan also performed well at No. 6 singles against Kate Novak, losing only six games on the evening in a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
The Pirates were very close to victory. Sophomore Oliwia Kempinski went three full sets with Anna Lajos at No. 5 singles after coming back to win set two. The third set was a narrow win by Lajos, 6-4. At No. 1 singles, junior Arina Gumerova won the first set against Daniela Bellini, lost the second set and was tied 3-3 in the third set when Bucknell clinched the match.
