No. 20 Pirates Head to Raleigh to Take on NC State, Friday

South Orange, N.J. – The No. 20 Pirates will travel down to Raleigh, N.C., to take part in the George Tarantini Classic where they will take on the likes of host-school NC State (RV) and No. 10 Virginia Tech. The Pirates will open up with NC State on Friday night with kickoff set for 7 p.m., at Dail Soccer Complex. The game will be streamed on ACCNX on ESPN+.

The Pirates picked up their first win of the 2021 campaign when they defeated Delaware, 4-2 at home on Monday. Andrea Borg (Sliema, Malta), Johannes Pex (Stephansposching, Germany), CJ Tibbling (Jarna, Sweden) and Camil Koreichi (Paris, France) all scored for The Hall in the victory to improve the Pirates to 1-0-1 on the young season. The win also extended the Pirates unbeaten streak at home to 665 days.

SCOUTING – NC State (RV) (2-0-0, 0-0-0)
- The Wolfpack is coming off wins over USC Upstate and UNC Asheville to start the season.
- Freshman Luke Hille has three goals to lead the Wolfpack as the team is outscoring opponents 6-0 while outshooting them 37-10.
- Leon Krapf has played the majority of minutes in net for NC State making four saves in the process and has yet to surrender a goal.
- The Pirates won the only prior meeting between these two programs with a 5-3 overtime victory at the 1988 Duke Classic on Sept. 10.
- The Pirates found the back of the net four times against Delaware on Monday. The four goals were the most for the Pirates since they defeated then-No. 17 Marquette 4-2, in the 2020 BIG EAST Semifinal.
- Goalkeeper Andreas Nota (Rome, Italy) picked up his 11th career shutout in the opener with Temple putting him in a tie for fourth place on the program's all-time leaderboard.
- The Pirates were picked second in the BIG EAST Conference Preseason Coaches Poll as the reigning BIG EAST champions were awarded 93 points including three first place votes. Georgetown took the top spot in the poll edging the Pirates by just five points while Creighton, the third team picked, was awarded 74 points.
- CJ Tibbling was selected as the conference's Preseason Co-Offensive Player of the Year and was a unanimous selection for the Preseason All-BIG EAST squad. Tibbling is coming off a 2020 Second Team All-America selection as well as First Team All-BIG EAST honors. On the offensive end, Tibbling led the Pirates with seven goals and 17 points on the season to go along with three assists. With his seven tallies, Tibbling ranked second in the BIG EAST and 20th in the country in goals scored.
- Luca Dahn was honored as the BIG EAST's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot Preseason All-BIG EAST team. Dahn was awarded a 2020 Second Team All-America selection as well as First Team All-BIG EAST honors. In his first year in a Seton Hall uniform, Dahn logged over 1500 minutes for The Hall and was on the pitch for all but nine minutes throughout the campaign. Despite lining up as a center back, Dahn also scored twice for The Hall while registering 12 shots on net, second best on the team.
