11 Pirates found the scoring column on Sunday afternoon
Newark, N.J. - The No. 21 Seton Hall men's basketball team shrugged off a slow start in the first half and asserted its will in the second as the Pirates claimed an 84-70 victory over Bethune-Cookman at Prudential Center on Sunday afternoon.
11 players scored for the Pirates (5-1) and four players scored in double figured led by senior guard Jared Rhoden (Baldwin, N.Y.) who dropped 18 points, pulled down four rebounds and dished out two assists.
Graduate student Alexis Yetna (Paris, France) registered his 19th career double-double and his first as a Pirate in a 14-point, 13-rebound effort.
How It Happened
With Bethune-Cookman leading by one at halftime, 34-33, The Hall opened the second half on a 13-4 run that quickly gave the Pirates a 48-38 lead. The Wildcats cut their deficit to three with 12:02 to play, 52-49, before Rhoden and Yetna combined to score the game's next 10 points that gave the Pirates a 13-point advantage, 62-49, and some more breathing room with 9:26 left.
Three-consecutive made three-pointers by graduate student Jamir Harris (North Brunswick, N.J.), junior Tyrese Samuel (Montreal, Quebec) and Rhoden gave Seton Hall its largest lead of the game, 75-52, that put the Pirates in control for good.

- The Hall improves to 118-18 since 2015-16 when its lead reaches seven points and 85-9 when it scores 80-plus points.
- The Pirates only missed one free throw all day, going 20-of-21 from the charity stripe.

- Richmond now has eight games in his career with five or more assists.
- Rhoden has scored in double figures in all four games played this season and was two points shy from scoring 20 points in three consecutive games.
- Kevin Willard (209 victories) is now three wins away from tying P.J. Carlesimo for second on the program's all-time wins list.
- The Pirates improve to 3-0 on the season and 77-11 all-time against non-conference opponents at Prudential Center.
