NEW YORK – Seton Hall head men's basketball coach Shaheen Holloway has been named the Lou Carnesecca Co-Coach of the Year by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) the organization announced Wednesday. Budd Clark was also named to the All-Metropolitan First Team while AJ Staton-McCray took home All-Met Honorable Mention honors.
Holloway engineered the third-best turnaround in the nation this past season, guiding the Pirates to a 21-win campaign which came on the heels of just seven victories the year prior. Seton Hall, who was selected to finish last in the BIG EAST, ended up as the No. 4 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament and reached the conference tournament semifinals for the first time since 2021. The Hall also earned 10 BIG EAST victories in 2025-26 under Holloway's guidance, tied for the third-best single-season turnaround in the league's history.
Clark landed First Team honors after averaging 12.7 ppg and 4.9 apg on the season, both of which led the team. The junior adds to his postseason accolades as he also earned All-BIG EAST Second Team and All-BIG EAST Defensive Team honors, in addition to an NABC All-Region First Team nod.
Staton-McCray posted a strong season in South Orange, sitting second on the team with 11.7 ppg. The graduate student was named to the Maui Invitational All-Tournament Team after posting a pair of 20-point games on the island, including 22 points in the win over NC State. A strong shooter, Staton-McCray had 10 games in which he knocked down at least three 3-pointers.
