
Pirates Pick Up Impressive Victory Over Fairfield To Start 2020

Fairfield, Conn. - The Pirates started 2020 off on the right foot, picking up a 175-68 victory on the road at Fairfield on Sunday. As a whole, the Pirates took first in all but one of the 13 events enroute to the win. Overall, 10 different Pirates took a share of first in their event.Â
Junior Lexi Kolodgie (Baltimore, Md.) took first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:43.56. Junior Julie Stankiewicz (Metuchen, N.J.) touched the wall first in both the 200 and 400 Frees. Stankiewicz finished with times of 2:09.50 and 4:30.20, respectively, while also swimming the first leg of the first place team in the 200 Free Relay. Â
Freshmen Madeline Bachand (Raleigh, N.C.) and Sierra Cripps (Seymour, Conn.) continued their strong starts with each picking up individual victories. Bachand paced the pool in the 800 free with a time of 9:19.80. Cripps picked up the victory in the 200 fly with a time of 2:18.66
In diving, junior Taylor Jackson (Thornton, Colo.) took first in both events. Jackson led the field with a score of 221.09 in the 1 mtr dive and 223.72 in the 3 mtr dive.
The Pirates will return to action on Saturday, January when they take on Delaware at home at 1 p.m. The meet will also serve as Senior Day for the Pirates.
