Pirates Pick Up Impressive Victory Over Fairfield To Start 2020

Fairfield, Conn. - The Pirates started 2020 off on the right foot, picking up a 175-68 victory on the road at Fairfield on Sunday. As a whole, the Pirates took first in all but one of the 13 events enroute to the win. Overall, 10 different Pirates took a share of first in their event.

Junior Lexi Kolodgie (Baltimore, Md.) took first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:43.56. Junior Julie Stankiewicz (Metuchen, N.J.) touched the wall first in both the 200 and 400 Frees. Stankiewicz finished with times of 2:09.50 and 4:30.20, respectively, while also swimming the first leg of the first place team in the 200 Free Relay.

Freshmen Madeline Bachand (Raleigh, N.C.) and Sierra Cripps (Seymour, Conn.) continued their strong starts with each picking up individual victories. Bachand paced the pool in the 800 free with a time of 9:19.80. Cripps picked up the victory in the 200 fly with a time of 2:18.66

In diving, junior Taylor Jackson (Thornton, Colo.) took first in both events. Jackson led the field with a score of 221.09 in the 1 mtr dive and 223.72 in the 3 mtr dive.

The Pirates will return to action on Saturday, January when they take on Delaware at home at 1 p.m. The meet will also serve as Senior Day for the Pirates.
