
Pirates Battle Strong CCSU Squad to Scoreless Tie

WEST ORANGE, N.J. – Freshman Harpa Johannsdottir (Akureyri, Iceland) made four saves as the Seton Hall women' soccer team played a strong Central Connecticut State team to a scoreless draw on Sunday.

The contest was a tale of two halves with Seton Hall dominating possession in the first half and out-shooting the Blue Devils, 9-to-4. In the second half however, Central Connecticut State upped its offensive pressure and out-shot The Hall, 7-to-2.

Pressure was evenly applied by both sides as the match turned to its overtime periods. In the first overtime, The Hall had its opportunities with both Alyssa Reszkowski (Freehold, N.J.) and Laura Hooper (Watford, England) getting shots on goal in the 90th and 96th respectively. Both shots were saved by CCSU goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan.

In the second overtime, it was Central Connecticut State getting two shots on goal with Johannsdottir making a pair of saves.Â

Seton Hall will return to action on Thursday, Sept, 19 when it travels to Philadelphia for a match at Drexel. The game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
