Pirates Deliver Win Over Georgetown in BIG EAST Opener

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Seton Hall women's tennis team defeated Georgetown on Friday afternoon in the BIG EAST Conference opener, 4-3, at the College Park Tennis Center.
At No. 1 doubles, senior Anicka Fajnorova (Bratislava, Slovakia) paired with freshman Regina Pitts (Los Angeles, Calif.) for a 6-4 victory. Senior Thandy Kangwa (Ft. Myers, Fla.) and junior Minja Gligic (Belgrade, Serbia) clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win at the No. 2 flight.
In singles play, Fajnorova gave the Pirates a 2-1 lead in the match with a victory at the top flight. Georgetown evened the score at 2-2, but Seton Hall juniors Melody Taal (Ede, Netherlands) and Mekeila Erspamer (Long Beach, Calif.) won the next two showdowns to clinch the match for the Pirates.
Up next, Seton Hall is right back at it on Saturday morning at Navy at 10 a.m.
