
Pirates Deliver Weekend Sweep Of Drexel, LIU Brooklyn

New Providence, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's tennis team delivered an impressive performance this weekend with a 5-2 win over Drexel on Saturday at Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness Center, and a 7-0 victory at LIU Brooklyn on Sunday night.
Juniors Michal Matson (Christchurch, New Zealand), Melody Taal (Ede, Netherland), and Minja Gligic (Belgrade, Serbia) each finished the weekend 4-0 in their respective singles and doubles matchups, as the Pirates surged to a pair of excellent non-conference wins.
On Saturday, Gligic and senior Thandy Kangwa (Ft. Meyers, Fla.) registered a clutch 7-6(2) win at the No. 2 doubles flight, and the duo of Tall & Matson registered a 6-2 win at No. 3 to win the point for The Hall.
During singles play, freshman Regina Pitts (Los Angeles, Calif.) set the tone with an impressive 6-3, 4-2 win at the No. 2 position. Taal, Matson and Gligic all took care of their singles assignments to secure the win.
On Sunday night, Seton Hall dominated doubles play to take the 1-0 lead heading into singles competition.
At the top singles flight, senior Anicka Fajnorova (Bratislava, Slovakia) registered a 6-1, 6-2 victory over LIU Brooklyn's Anna Grigoryan. From there, the Pirates continued to grind out wins at all remaining five singles matchups to finalize the 7-0 sweep.
Looking ahead, the Pirates continue non-conference play, and will travel to the Bronx for a 12 p.m. match at Fordham on Friday, Feb. 15.
