
Pirates Earn Impressive Win over Drexel

South Orange, N.J. -Â The Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team won eight individual events on their way to picking up the win over Drexel on Saturday, 170-127. The win improves the Pirates to 5-0 in the fall semester.
After a first place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.48, Caleb Smith (Charlottesville, Va.) got the Pirates going in the individual events with a dominant showing in the 1000 free. Smith finished in first with a time of 9:41.65, more than 12 seconds faster than the next competitor.
Sophomore Ben LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) continued his strong start to the season winning two individual events for the Pirates. LaClair captured first in both the 200 free and the 500 free, with a times of 1:42.23 in the 200 free and a time of 4:39.87 in the 500.
In the 200 breaststroke, Thomas Staes (Berlaar, Belgium) captured first with a time of 2:03.12. Other winners included Josh Tosoni (Arnold, Md.) in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.20, Thomas Minar in the 50 yard free with a time of 21.54.
In diving, senior Tim Lynch (Watertown, Conn.) took home first in both events posting scores of 275.39 in the 1 meter dive and 269.77 in the 3 meter event.
Seton Hall went 1-2-3 in the both the 200 and 500 frees.
The meet was the Pirates last home event of the fall before the compete in the Patriot Invitational from Nov. 21-23 in Fairfax, Va.Â
