Jimenez' Record-Setting Day Leads Hall Past SPU

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – With the new fast-paced, high-scoring, 3-pointer-heavy offense implemented by the Seton Hall women's basketball team (7-1) this season, program records are destined to fall. Nicole Jimenez (Miami, Fla.) made sure of that on Sunday when she knocked down a school-record NINE 3-pointers and scored a career-high 33 points in a 90-47 rout of Saint Peter's (4-3) inside Walsh Gym.
Jimenez scored early and often for the Pirates, finishing her day with a crisp 11-of-15 mark from the floor and a 9-for-13 effort from 3-point range. In 36 minutes of action she also sparked an inspired defensive effort for the Pirates with a total of nine steals, one shy of the program record. The senior guard became the 10th player in SHU history to score at least 33 points in a single game.
Also in double-figures for The Hall was Victoria Cardaci (Holmdel, N.J.), who went for 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting from 3-point range. The Hall stifled the Peacocks to a 29.5 percent shooting day and set new season-highs with 51 rebounds, 23 steals and eight blocked shots.
Head Coach Anthony Bozzella on the result:
"I was really pleased with our effort today, bringing energy from the start of the game to the finish. We have played a lot of games in a short amount of time and have gotten through it with great results. I'm so proud of what Nicole did today but it's not at all surprising. She works her tail off every day, every practice, every workout, she never takes off a play and it shows with performances like today."
Inside The Numbers
The Pirates are away from Walsh until they open BIG EAST play on Dec. 30 and will play three contests away from South Orange in that stretch. First up is a stiff test at No. 2 UConn on Saturday, Dec. 8 in Hartford.
