
Pirates Edged in Defensive Battle at Providence

Providence, R.I. – In a BIG EAST Conference match that featured a combined 13 shots, six corner kicks, and just one offside call, the Seton Hall women's soccer team fell 1-0 in a defensive showcase at Providence on Sunday afternoon.
Turning Point
The Pirates (2-11-4, 0-8-0 BIG EAST) fought Providence (9-5-3, 3-3-2 BIG EAST) to a scoreless opening 45 minutes. However, the Friars struck in the 51st minute when Amber Birchwell scored on a shot from the middle of the box.
Sophomore Dani Brinckman (Glastonbury, Conn.) registered a shot immediately following the goal which sailed high. In the 83rd minute, sophomore Alyssa Reszkowski (Freehold, N.J.) collected a shot on goal, but the Pirates were unable to come up with the equalizer.
