
Pirates Finish Fall Season at Lady Blue Hen Invite

REHOBOTH BEACH, DEL. - The Seton Hall women' golf team will complete the fall season with three rounds of golf at the Delaware Lady Blue Hen Invitational at Rehoboth Beach Country Club, Oct. 20-21.

The Course:
Rehoboth Beach Country Club is the best golf course on the Eastern Shore inspiring golfers of all skill levels. Offering multiple tees, sculpted greens and fairways, challenging bunkers and ponds, as spectacular views greet golfers at every turn. Its proximity to the Rehoboth Bay provides a variety of changing winds and weather conditions which influence and enhance the experience.
Rehoboth Beach Country Club was the first golf course in Delaware to receive the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary designation from Audubon International in 2001. It is described as helping "golf courses protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf." Being located in the fragile inland bay region, Rehoboth Beach Country Club embraces this effort and is proud to be one of only 906 courses world-wide to receive this designation.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Delaware, the field is comprised of 10 other teams including: Bucknell, Columbia, Georgetown, High Point, James Madison, Pennsylvania, Quinnipiac, Rutgers, Towson and Western Michigan.

Last Time Out:
All five Pirates shot 2-over-par or better in Sunday's final round as the Pirates vaulted up the team leader board to finish third at the 2018 Yale Women's Intercollegiate on October 7.

Sophomore Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) fired an even-par, 71, to lead the Pirates on a day that the entire lineup excelled. Kness moved up to a tie for 23rd place at 15-over-par with an 80-77-71-228.

Collectively, the Pirates saved their finest round for Sunday, firing a 5-over-par, 289, which was the second-lowest among the field of 17 teams. The Hall moved up to a third place team finish with a 46-over-par, 310-299-289-898, improving at least 10 strokes for a second straight day. Boston University won the team title at 38-over-par, while Stirling placed second at 43-over-par.

Last Time at Rehoboth Beach:
In 2016, Cassie Pantelas fired a 3-over-par, 74, in Sunday's final round as the Pirates improved to finish fourth at the Delaware Lady Blue Hen Invitational. Pantelas tied for fourth among 60 individual golfers with a 16-over-par, 77-78-74-229. She finished six strokes behind Harvard's Anna Zhou, who won the individual title.Â

Collectively, Seton Hall tied host Delaware for the top round of the day with a 21-over-par, 305. The Hall's Sunday performance enabled it to jump two spots in the team standings. For the three-round tournament, the Pirates finished with a 90-over-par, 313-324-305-942. Harvard won the team title at 68-over-par.Â

Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) saved her best round of the tournament for last. She shot a 6-over-par, 77, on Sunday to finish in a 14th place tie. For the three-round event, Win finished with a 23-over-par, 80-79-77-236. Classmate Sammie Staudt (Collegeville, Pa.) finished just two strokes behind Win for the tournament with a 25-over-par, 77-85-76-238, one stroke ahead of Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.), who registered a 26-over-par, 79-82-78-239.

Tee Times:
The field will play two continuous rounds on Saturday, and one, final round on Sunday. For Saturday's rounds, the Pirates will be paired with golfers from Delaware and Rutgers with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday's final round pairings will be determined by the golfers' Saturday performance with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
