CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. - Three Pirates shot under 80 in Sunday's final round to lift the Seton Hall women's golf team to its third straight BIG EAST Conference championship.
Seton Hall shot a 26-over-par, 314, five shots better than its closest opponent, Georgetown. Midway through the round, the Hoyas erased the Pirates' seven-shot lead entering the day and took a slim lead. The Hall however, bounced back late and eventually won the tournament by 12 strokes over Georgetown.
Senior Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) finished the tournament with a 15-over-par, 76-78-77-236, to tie for fourth among all individual golfers. She finished tied with teammate Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio). Pantelas also- finished strong for The Hall with a 6-over-par, 78. For the tournament, she shot a 15-over-par, 80-73-78-231. Xavier's Shane Crutchfield won the individual title at 6-over-par.
Senior Megan Tehundfeld (Erie, Pa.) shot the third Pirates' score under 80 on Sunday. She fired a 6-over-par, 78, to finish ninth overall. For the three-day event, she tallied a 20-over-par, 81-77-78-236.
Senior McKenzie Cutter (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) finished just one stroke behind Tenhunfeld with a 21-over-par, 81-75-81-237. Sophomore
Macky Fouse (Aliquippa, Pa.) finished with a 44-over-par, 91-84-85-260.
The Pirates third title is certainly the most improbable. Entering the three-round event on Friday, Seton Hall was the fourth-ranked team in the field of six based on the GolfStat rankings.

The Course:
The club features three nine-hole courses. The competition will play the first nine holes on the Dogwood Course and the second nine on the Magnolia Course. Designing Callawassie Island's award-winning championship 27-hole course, Tom Fazio took advantage of the island's natural beauty to create a juxtaposition of visual drama and superb playability. Magnificent live oaks and magnolias, as well as freshwater ponds and the surrounding saltwater marsh, come into play on most holes. Inspiring vistas and abundant wildlife make nature part of the golf experience.
The Field:
For the BIG EAST Championship, the field was limited to only the six women's golf teams of the conference. This includes: Butler, Creighton, Georgetown, Seton Hall, St. John's and Xavier.
Up Next:
Seton Hall's season will continue as the Pirates earned the BIG EAST Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season. The Pirates will wait to see which of four possible regional sites they'll be assigned. The possible designations include Baton Rouge, La., Bryan, Texas, Shoal Creek Ala., and Stanford, Calif.
