Pirates Take On Yale Intercollegiate This Weekend

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - The Seton Hall women' golf team will return to the links this weekend when it travels to New Haven, Conn. for the 2016 Yale Women's Intercollegiate, Oct. 7-9.

The Course:
Designed by champion golfer and co-founder of the USGA Charles Blair Macdonald, the par-71, 6,044-yard Yale Golf Course is an exemplar of the early American golf course and has consistently been voted the number one college golf course in America.
The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Yale, the field is comprised of 16 other teams including: Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Cincinnati, Columbia, Dartmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Southern Alabama, South Florida, Stirling, Towson and Tulsa. Xavier is the lone other BIG EAST competition in the field.

The Lineup:
Seton Hall will bring the following golfers to compete at Yale. The order is below:
The Yale Women's Intercollegiate is the only non-championship tournament that the Pirates have played every year since the program's inception in 2010. This will be the seventh time participating in the event.Â

Last year, the Pirates finished 14th among 16 teams with an 87-over-par, 308-313-318-939. Macky Fouse (Aliquippa, Pa.) was the top returning Pirate performer with a 20-over-par, 76-77-80-233. Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) was 24-over-par with a 75-80-82-237.

Seton Hall's top finish at Yale was in 2012 when they finished at 45-over-par. The Pirates finished fourth at the event each year from 2012 through 2014.

Last Time Out:
Freshman Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) and Pantelas each shot a 4-over-par, 76, in the final round as the Pirates finished the 2016 Rutgers Invitational tied for sixth on Sept. 17.

Staudt shaved four strokes off her second round score and moved up the leader board to finish tied for 18th place among 70 individual golfers. For the tournament, she was 21-over-par with an 81-80-76-237.

Collectively, Seton Hall shot a 22-over-par, 310, in the final round to finish tied with Fairleigh Dickinson for sixth place with a 92-over-par, 352-294-310-856. Delaware won the team title at 55-over-par. The Pirates' lone BIG EAST competition, St. John's, finished third, 19 strokes ahead of The Hall.

For the first time in her collegiate career, Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) was the top Pirate performer for the tournament. The freshman shot a 6-over-par, 78, in the final round, and tied for fourth overall. She finished with an 11-over-par, 76-73-78-227. Win became the first Pirate in program history to record top-5 finishes in her first two collegiate tournaments.

Seton Hall's tee times will begin with Fouse's pairing at 9:40 a.m. Staudt will begin at 9:50 a.m., followed by Sager at 10:00 a.m., Pantelas at 10:10 a.m. and Win at 10:20 a.m. The Pirates will be paired with golfers from Princeton, Dartmouth and South Florida in round one.
