Tennis Falls to #37 DePaul, Marquette

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - A shorthanded Seton Hall tennis team dropped a pair of difficult road matches to close the regular season over the weekend, falling to #37 DePaul and Marquette on consecutive days.
The Hall (7-11, 2-5 BIG EAST) had won four of six entering the road trip but ran into a DePaul squad that will head into the conference tournament at 18-4 overall and a perfect 5-0 against league foes as well as a Marquette (11-10, 2-2 BIG EAST) team whose only loss in nine home appearances came to the Blue Demons.
DePaul and Marquette combined to go 16-1 as hosts this season, with DePaul's win over the Golden Eagles serving as the lone time either team surrendered more than one point at home.
Freshman Katie Kim (Honolulu, Hawaii) notched a point for the Pirates on Sunday with a comeback victory over Marquette's Vanessa Foltinger, rallying from a loss in the first set to take the match in a tiebreak (2-6, 6-4, 1-0).
The result gives the newcomer Kim three singles victories in conference play to this point in her debut season, matching the second-highest total on the team.
SHU will head back out to the Midwest next week, traveling to Indianapolis for the 2015 BIG EAST Championships presented by New York Life. The program now awaits an announcement of the tournament seeding which is expected to be released by the league office Monday afternoon.
Last season, The Hall was seeded sixth and closed the year with a shutout of Butler in the consolation round after coming up short against Xavier in the quarterfinal round.
