Freshmen Shine Again as Hall Completes Trip to Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, W. VA. - Freshmen Lior Grubert (Yehud-Monosson, Israel), Kyle Nash (Katy, Texas) and David Rowe (Cherry Hill, N.J.) combined to record four second-place finishes on Saturday as the Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team wrapped up a trip to West Virginia and the BIG EAST vs. Big 12 Weekend.
Despite several standout performances over two days of competition, The Hall came up short against both reigning BIG EAST champions Xavier and the host Mountaineers; evening its record at 2-2 through the first two meets of the fall.

- Grubert out-paced his nearest BIG EAST competitor by over four seconds in the 500-free, clocking a second-place time of 4:42.73. The Seton Hall newcomer also came in second in the 200-IM as part of a group of three Pirates among the top-five. Grubert's time of 1:54.66 was followed by classmate Kyle Nash (Katy, Texas) in fourth (1:58.45) and sophomore Noah Yanchulis (Arnold, Md.) in fifth (1:58.99)
- Nash added a runner-up showing in the 200-fly, reaching the wall in 1:56.51. Sophomore Matt Zebrowski (Sayreville, N.J.) was close behind in third with a time of 1:56.88.

The 100-back race saw Rowe compile a 51.52 mark that led all BIG EAST competitors by nearly 2.4 seconds. The freshman also paced all conference entrants in the 100-fly with a third-place mark of 51.47.

Freshman Ivan Michalovic (Glen Mills, Pa.) earned a third-place finish by swimming one mile in 16:57.37 and was joined in the top-five by sophomore Cody Wimmer (Macungie, Pa.) (17:15.00)

Grubert's 100-free mark of 47.48 was fast enough for fourth overall and just .5 seconds off that of the top BIG EAST performer, Xavier's Rodrigo Suriano. Classmate Dakota Williams (Noank, Conn,) registered a similar finish in the 50-free, ranking fourth overall and second among conference entrants with a 21.81

The Pirates recorded a pair of third-place relay finishes on the day with Williams serving as the anchor on the 400-medley squad. Zohar Suslovich (Holon, Israel), Sean Sali (Bridgewater, N.J.), Rowe and Williams teamed to record a time of 3:30.74. Williams also contributed to a third-place rime in 800-free relay action, combining with Grubert, Yanchulis and Nash to record a time of 7:06.81 that was just 1.5 seconds behind the top BIG EAST mark of the afternoon

Freshman Chris Tucker (Middletown, N.J.) joined Yanchulis, Grubert and Williams on a 200-free relay squad that came in fourth with a time of 1:27.30

The Hall returns to action in its final home appearance of the fall on Wednesday, October 28 when Monmouth travels to South Orange for a dual meet. Start-time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
