INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - The BIG EAST Champion Seton Hall women's golf team will compete in the East Regional of the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships, May 8-10.
The East Regional will be played at SouthWood Golf Club in Tallahassee, Florida and will be hosted by Florida State University.
"We're excited to be heading back to Florida," said Head Coach Sara Doell. "We've played there a few times already this year. We know the grass and the environment. We're also happy to be playing in the same time zone and in a location that was the most easily-accessible for parents to attend."
Three regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the championships field. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA championships competition, and all national championships policies apply. The Central Region will be played at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Oklahoma State University will host. The West Region will be played at Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Washington. The University of Washington will serve as the host institution.
A total of 378 participants have been selected for regional competition. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championships finals. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional.
The championships finals will be held May 20-23 at Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma and will be co-hosted by the University of Tulsa and the Tulsa Sports Commission.
Seton Hall won entrance into the prestigious championship event by winning the BIG EAST Conference championship last week. It will be the first time in program history that the Pirates participate in an NCAA Regional.
The Pirates defeated the rest of the new-look BIG EAST field by seven strokes to claim its first conference title after leading the event wire-to-wire. The Hall finished the event at 64-over-par, with a 314-302-312-928.
