Rane Fuels Pirates in Final Round at Nittany Lion Invite

STATE COLLEGE, PA. – Junior Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) shot a 4-over-par, 76, in Monday's final round to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team at the Nittany Lion Invitational.

Rane had two birdies and 10 pars to fuel her team-best final round. For the tournament, she tied for 41st place with a 13-over-par, 81-72-76-229. Yale's Mia Sessa won the individual title at 5-under-par.

As a team, The Hall turned in its best collective round of the tournament on Monday. The Pirates shot a 19-over-par, 307, in round three. For the two-day event, Seton Hall placed 16th with a 74-over-par, 318-313-307-938. Host Penn State won the team title at 14-over-par. BIG EAST competitors Georgetown and St. John's finished at 50-over-par and 61-over-par respectively.

Senior Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) turned in her best round of the new year, using 14 pars to fuel a 5-over-par, 77. For the tournament, she was 24-over-par with an 84-79-77.

Freshman Isabella Stewart (Wicklow, Ireland) finished only one stroke behind Ekman for the tournament. On Monday, she shot a 10-over-par, 82. For the two-day event, Stewart was 25-over-par with an 81-78-82-241.

Junior Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) rounded out her tournament with an 11-over-par, 83, on Monday. For the tournament, she was 32-over-par with an 81-84-83-248.

Sophomore Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) withdrew from her second consecutive round due to injury. The reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Year shot a 3-over-par, 75, in the first round.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Penn State, the field was comprised of 14 other teams including: Akron, Albany, Bucknell, Delaware, Duquesne, Maryland, Navy, Pennsylvania, Quinnipiac, Rollins College, Towson and Yale. Â Â BIG EAST competitors Georgetown and St. John's are also among the field.
