SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - As the Pirates ready for their first season competing in a revamped BIG EAST Conference, head coach Ron Farina has announced that the Seton Hall swimming & diving schedule for 2013-14 has been finalized.
SHU will be a part of 10 separate competitions throughout the regular season; opening with a split dual meet against Montclair State on Wednesday, October 9. The swimming portion will be hosted by MSU while diving will simultaneously take place at the Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium.
The showdown with Montclair State is the first of six head-to-head matchups during the upcoming year. The Hall hosts Rider in their second outing of the year (10.17) and will return to South Orange for their final dual meet when they take on Connecticut (1.26) - a meet that will serve as "Senior Day" for the program's 12 seniors. Trips to conference rival Providence (11.2), Iona (11.13) and Marist (1.25) round out the dual meet slate.
Four multi-team competitions also await the Pirates; three of which will take place before the winter break. The teams will make a return trip to the Loyola (MD) Quad Meet which will again include Lafayette and Drexel (10.26), head to Rutgers along with Georgetown and Villanova for a two-day meet (11.8-11.9) and attend the Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason (11.21-11.23).
The lone multi-squad event following the break - which will again include a one-week long training trip to Ponce, Puerto Rico - is the Navy Invitational (2.1) and will serve as the final tune-up prior to the BIG EAST Championship.
The 2014 BIG EAST Championship meet is scheduled to take place over four days from February 19 through 22. In the first season of the revamped conference, the championship is scheduled to be held in nearby Sewell, N.J. at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology.
