PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Seton Hall women’s golfer Christina Cantú (Houston, Texas) was named to the 2013 All-BIG EAST Team; it was announced Thursday by the conference office. It is only the second time in history that the program has produced an All-BIG EAST performer. Teammate Hannah Basalone earned the distinction last year. “I’m really happy with how Christina’s game continues to mature,” said Head Coach Sara Doell. “As opposed to past years, she was able to stay mostly healthy and contribute significantly to our team scores. I’m excited to see what her senior year will bring.” A participant in seven tournaments this year, Cantú logged top-10 finishes at five events. She tied for second at both the Bucknell Invitational and the Rutgers Invitational, the latter of which led to a team title. One of only two Pirates to compete in all three BIG EAST Championships since the program’s inception, Cantú led Seton Hall at the 2013 title event with a 6-over-par, 75-71-76-222 to tie for eighth place overall. Her 1-under-par, 71, during the second round of the BIG EAST Championship was her low-round for the year. Cantú had the lowest scoring average among Seton Hall golfers this spring. 2013 All-BIG EAST Women’s Golf Team Alex Carl, Sr., Cincinnati Olivia Dose, Jr., Cincinnati Emily Haas, So., Louisville Tara Lyons, Jr., Louisville Laura Restrepo, Fr., Louisville Ashley Armstrong, So., Notre Dame Talia Campbell, Fr., Notre Dame Lindsey Weaver, Fr., Notre Dame Harin Lee, Jr., St. John’s CHRISTINA CANTÚ, JR., SETON HALL Amy West, Sr., USF Women’s Player of the Year Lindsey Weaver, Fr., Notre Dame Women’s Freshman of the Year Lindsey Weaver, Fr., Notre Dame Women’s Coach of the Year Susan Holt, Notre Dame
