Senior Terry Green (Brentwood, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 12 points behind four three-point field goals to lead the Pirates offensively. Redshirt-sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons (Newark, N.J.) scored all nine of her points in the second half, also finishing with a team-high three assists, four rebounds and three steals.
Connecticut (25-2, 12-1) took advantage of a couple of early Seton Hall (9-18, 4-10) turnovers and hit its first three shots form the field to jump out to a 7-0 lead before Green nailed a three-point shot to get the Pirates on the scoreboard.
The Huskies extended their advantage to 11 points thanks to an impressive three-point shooting performance for Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, who nailed four threes over the first seven minutes of action. That run was snapped by freshman Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas), who was good from three to pull Seton Hall within eight, 16-8.
Over the next five minutes Connecticut responded with a 14-0 run. Freshman Breanna Stewart was a big factor in that stretch, hitting three-straight field goal attempts over just 1:23. Green's second trey of the period meant the end of the Huskies' run.
Sophomore Chizoba Ekedigwe (Laurel, Md.) scored the final four points of the half for Seton Hall, as the Pirates' bench accounted for all 15 of the team's first half points.
Simmons played all 20 minutes of the second half and went 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Led by Green's team-high 12 points the Pirates' bench accounted for 21 points, the fifth-highest scoring game for Seton Hall's second unit this season.
Mosqueda-Lewis and Kelly Faris led four Connecticut Huskies in double figures with 18 points apiece. Stewart came off the bench to score 16 points to go along with eight rebounds and Stefanie Dolson finished with 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Seton Hall returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 27, when it heads to Louisville, Ky., to take on the #12/11 University of Louisville Cardinals at the KFC Yum! Center at 7 p.m.
