NEW YORK, N.Y. - Junior Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) of the Seton Hall women's golf team was named BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
The award is the first of the fall season given out by the BIG EAST and encompasses all golf play so far this season.
McClure has been a force for Seton Hall this fall, averaging a team-low 75.78 strokes per round. She has notched a pair of top-10 finishes in three tournaments this season, including her first-ever top-five placement, a fourth place finish at the Bucknell Invitational on Sept. 8. McClure also tied for seventh at the Yale Fall Intercollegiate with a season with a career-best 8-over-par performance on Sept. 22.
St. John's Ryan McCormick earned BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week honors.
McClure and the rest of the Pirates will return to the links on Monday, Oct. 14 for the first round of the 2013 Rutgers Women's Invitational. Seton Hall is the defending team champion.
