
MSWIM Earns Team All-Academic Award

With an impressive team cumulative grade point average of 3.30 last season, Seton Hall ranked 12th nationally out of the 69 teams that qualified for inclusion on the list.
Additionally, the Pirates ranked second in the conference, trailing just Villanova University out of the seven BIG EAST teams to receive Team Scholar All-America honors.
In order to qualify for CSCAA Scholar All-America honors a team must hold a grade point average of at least 3.0.
Seton Hall completed its 2011-12 campaign with a 9-2 overall record in dual competitions and the Pirates finished eighth at the 2012 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships.
A total of 16 of the Pirates' 18 student-athletes qualified for the conference championship meet, each of them doing so with automatic cuts. Junior Ryan O'Shaughnessy (Coral Springs, Fla.) finished 13th in the 200-yard breaststroke and 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke at the BIG EAST meet.
Junior Austin Acheson (Olathe, Kan.) came in 10th in the 400-yard individual medley and sophomore Matt Benson (Overland Park, Kan.) placed 14th in the 100-yard backstroke at the conference championships.
The Pirates saw a pair of school records fall during the season, with sophomore Joey Lacus (Wethersfield, Conn.), senior Matt Holland (Horsham, Pa.), Benson and sophomore Richard Dunham (Wayzata, Minn.) breaking the 400-yard freestyle relay mark (3:03.94) and freshman diver Ben Mitchell (Millford, Pa.) setting a new one-meter springboard record of 287.25.
