WGolf Wraps Up Fall at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, PA. - Fresh off their second team victory in program history, the Seton Hall women's golf team will take on the field at the Lehigh University Invitational to conclude the fall season.
Eight teams will compete on Saucon Valley's Grace Course with Georgetown, Princeton, Rutgers, St. John's, Siena and Yale joining host Lehigh and the Pirates. The teams will compete on the par-72 course for two-days and 36 holes.
The Lehigh University Invitational is the scene of Seton Hall's first individual championship. Last season, Hannah Basalone (Brea, Calif.) edged Brown's Stephanie Hsieh in a playoff to claim the title. Basalone shot a 3-over-par, 73-74-147, and won the event in the first hole of the playoff.
Collectively, the Pirates placed second, just four strokes behind the team champion, Brown, with a 35-over-par, 305-306-611.
Saucon Valley Country Club, founded in 1920, has grown from 18 holes and a clubhouse to become one of the largest private clubs in North America. It encompasses 800 acres and consists of four courses, including the Weyhill Course, Old Course, Grace Course and Short Course. The Grace Course opened with nine holes in the fall of 1953 with the second nine opened for play in 1958. Named for Eugene Gifford Grace (Lehigh Class of 1899), longtime president and chairman of Bethlehem Steel, the Grace Course measures 7,051 yards from the championship tees and features greens nearly twice the size of those on the Old Course but without the severe contours.
Seton Hall is in the midst of a historic fall season. The Pirates have logged four top-five finishes in four tournaments, and have earned a program-best 97 golfstat ranking. They're are coming off a seven-stroke victory at the Rutgers Invitational at which three golfers, Christina Cantú (Houston, Texas), Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) and Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) all tied for second place among 118 golfers at 6-over-par.
"We are heading back to a course that we've enjoyed success on in the past," said Head Coach Sara Doell. "We have had a great season, but it's important that we finish the fall on a strong note. It's a small field, but there are three other BIG EAST teams competing and we want to perform well against them as we look towards the spring."
