Portela Excels at Puerto Rico's National Open

Rising sophomore Rocio Portela (Demetrio Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) is coming off an impressive performance in Puerto Rico's National Open. The tournament includes the best players from the college and professional ranks and is one of the most prestigious events in Puerto Rico.
"We are very proud of Rocio's accomplishments this summer," said head coach Greg Wyzykowski. "I believe her continued success in this highly competitive tournament is a great sign of things to come for our upcoming season."
Portela reached the semifinals in the singles draw for the fourth time and advanced to the finals in doubles play for the third time in her young career.
