
Tennis Drops Regular Season Finale, 7-0, to NJIT

NEWARK, N.J. - The Seton Hall tennis team lost to NJIT on Thursday to wrap up its regular season. The Pirates finished 6-14 and will wait to hear if they have earned a spot in the BIG EAST Championship on Monday.
The doubles pair of Pui Wing Sher (Shui Wai, Hong Kong) and Rocio Portela (Demetrio Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) earned victory in the No. 1 slot. They topped the duo of Nina Mayevska and Jana Luste, 8-4.
Sher put up a strong fight against Ksenia Kuzmenko in No. 1 singles, winning the first set by a score of 6-2. In the second, the freshman came up just short, 7-5, and fell by a two-game margin in the third set as well.
Sophomore Karina Cordero (Maracay Estado Aragua, Venezuela) forced a third set in her No. 5 match, but ultimately fell, 10-7, in the deciding frame.
