
Tennis Shuts Out Villanova, 7-0

MOUNTAINSIDE, N.J. - The Seton Hall tennis team blanked Villanova, 7-0, on Friday. The Pirates improved to 5-11 overall and 2-5 in BIG EAST play.
The doubles teams for SHU set the tone to start the match with the pairs of Pui Wing Sher (Shui Wai, Hong Kong) and Rocio Portela (Demetrio Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) along with Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, Calif.) and Karina Cordero (Maracay Estado Aragua, Venezuela) coasting to victories to seal the doubles point.
In singles play, senior Belfin Sunbul (Izmir, Turkey) turned in a dominating performance in the No. 3 slot. Sunbul beat Amanda Nelson in straight sets without surrendering a game. Portela had the toughest match of the day, pulling out a three-set victory against Allison Solberg in the No. 2 position.
The Pirates will host St. John's at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday for another conference tilt.
