Tennis Shutout by #69 Marquette, 7-0

WESTFIELD, N.J. - The Seton Hall tennis team lost fell to #69 Marquette, 7-0, in its home opener on Friday. The Pirates (1-7) are back in action on Tuesday, March 8, when they take on Sacred Heart and James Madison in Orlando, Fla.
In No. 1 doubles, the duo of Pui Wing Sher (Shui Wai, Hong Kong) and Belfin Sunbul (Izmir, Turkey) shocked the Golden Eagles' top pair of Gillian Hush and Christina Ruiz with an 8-6 win. SHU almost stole the doubles point, but Elizabeth Verow (Barnt Green, England) and Michelle Weerasinghe (Edina, Minn.) were edged, 8-6, in a back-and-forth match.
Weerasinghe gave Rocio Diaz a difficult match, but ultimately fell 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 5 position.
