ORLANDO, Fla. - Still shorthanded due to injury, the Seton Hall tennis team pulled out a 5-2 win to snap a nine-match losing streak. The Pirates (2-9) had to forfeit No. 5 and 6 singles and No. 3 doubles, but won the other five contests to get their first victory since the opening match of the spring.
For the second straight match, freshman Pui Wing Sher (Shui Wai, Hong Kong) did not lose a single game in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jennifer Blackburne in the No. 1 singles slot. Senior Belfin Sunbul (Izmir, Turkey), junior Elizabeth Verow (Barnt Green, England), and junior Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, Calif.) all went into three sets, but ultimately came up victorious for the Hall.
In doubles, the pairs of Sher and Sunbul along with Kilarski and Verow did their part to take the doubles point.
The Pirates will wrap up their spring break trip on Thursday, March 10 against Robert Morris.
