Seton Hall Tennis Falls Short to NJIT, 4-3

MONTCLAIR,  N .J. - In a hard fought match, Seton Hall Tennis fell to NJIT, 4-3. Their overall record is 5-5.

In No. 1 singles, Senior Denise Liebschner (Weinboehla, Germany), recovered from her loss to St. John's, winning against Nina Mayevska in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Liebschner improves her record to 5-4 this season.

Freshman Karina Cordero (Maracay Estado Aragua, Venezuela), stepped up in No. 3 singles spot in place of Belfin Sunbul. Cordero put up a fight in her first set to Isha Toor, unfortunately she fell to Toor in straight sets 7-6, 6-1. Sophomore Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, Cal.) had a winning weekend, defeating her opponents in both matches. Today she overthrew Anine Lovdal 6-1, 6-1.

Sophmore Michelle Weerasinghe (Edina, Minn.) overpowered her opponent, Fanny Aizier, in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. This is Weerasinghe's fifth consecutive win of the season.  

The Pirates were unable to gain a point in doubles, today. In No. 3 doubles Liebschner/Kaplanska were able to win their match 8-5 against Aizier/Stanmirovic. However the Pirates were not able to win the majority of the doubles competition, in order to obtain a point.

The Pirates will try to improve their record, when they play Villanova on March 27^th in Villanova, P.A.
