Seton Hall Tennis Overthrown by St. John's, 5-2

QUEENS, N.Y.- Seton Hall Tennis was defeated by St. John's on Friday afternoon, making their overall record 5-4.   

Senior Denise Liebschner (Weinboehla, Germany), fell to her opponent, Ira Aleksova, 64, 6-1 in No.1 singles. Denise is playing strong this season, making this her first lose in five straight games.  

In No. 3 singles, Junior Belfin Sunbul (Izmir, Turkey), was defeated by Ece Firat in straight sets 6-3, 6- 3. This makes her record 4-5 so far in the spring season. Sophomore Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, Cal.) was victorious in her match against Ksenia Mikhaylova, winning 5-7, 6-4, 10-6. Kilarski fought hard to get her first win of the season.

Sophmore Michelle Weerasinghe (Edina, Minn.) defeated Nakita Austin 6-4, 6-4 in the No.6 singles spot. After losing to Austin in straight sets last season, Weerasinghe came out for avenge and beat Austin in straight sets.

The Pirates struggled in doubles competition, losing all three matches. Even with the lose; Liebschner/Sunbul played a hard fought match. The pair led the match 6-3 early on, however they let it slip losing 8-7 in the end.

The Pirates will try to gain another win in their next match against NJIT on Sunday March 21^stin Montclair, N.J.
