
Seton Hall Tennis Sweeps St. Peter's, 6-0

JERSEY CITY, N.J.- The Seton Hall tennis team earned its first victory after topping St.Peter's, 6-0, on Saturday. The Pirates overall record is 3-1.
In No. 1 singles, Sophomore Elizabeth Verow (Barnt Green, England) picked up her first singles win of the spring season, defeating Kyrsten Chen (6-1, 6-1). Junior Belfin Sunbul (Izmir, Turkey), continues to be victorious, winning her second consecutive singles match this season. Sunbul outplayed Joneisa Williams 6-1, 6-0.
Playing in the No. 3 singles, Freshman Karina Cordero (Maracay Estado Aragua, Venezuela) topped Linnea Jawsson (6-4, 6-1). Cordero had a straight set win over Jawsson, allowing Hall to surge ahead 3-0 over the Peacocks.
Sophomore Michelle Weerasinghe (Edina, Minn.) competed the No. 4, and was victorious, winning 6-1,6-0. Weerasinghe continues to perform at a competitive level that allowed her to defeat her opponents.
In doubles competition, Sunbul and Liebschner played a strenuous match against Chen and Collomb. Although it was a close match, Sunbul and Liebschner were able to come out on top and defeat Collomb and Chen 8-6.
The Pirates will try to achieve its second win on Saturday February 27th, when they travel to Annapolis, M.D. to play Towson.
