Tennis Wraps Up Qualifying Round for ITA Regionals

HANOVER, N.H. - Seton Hall began play at the ITA Regionals on Friday in the qualifying stages of the singles tournament. Main draw doubles and singles will begin tomorrow.
Freshman Rocio Portela (Demetrio Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) was the only Pirate in action in the qualifying singles round. She fell in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) to Nakita Austin from St. John's.
Portela will compete in doubles action tomorrow with classmate Pui Wing Sher (Shui Wai, Hong Kong), who is already in the main singles draw. Juniors Elizabeth Verow (Barnt Green, England) and Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, Calif.) were slated to compete in the preliminary round, but were moved up to the doubles main draw.
