WASHINGTON, D.C. The Seton Hall tennis team closed out its regular season with a 4-2 victory at Georgetown on Friday. No doubles contests were played in the match. The Pirates are 8-11 overall and 3-7 in the BIG EAST.
After dropping No. 1 and 2 singles matches, SHU won the final-four matches quite convincingly. Senior Danielle Viola (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) had a tough first-set in the No. 4 spot, but rallied to win the final two frames by a 6-2 count.
Sophomore Belfin Sunbul (Izmir, Turkey) along with freshmen Michelle Weerasinghe (Edina, Minn.) and Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, Calif.) each won in straight-sets.
The Pirates will now wait to see if they have earned a bid to the BIG EAST Championships. The conference takes the top-12 teams.
