WESTPOINTN.Y. - After a strong showing in the East Coast Championship, Seton Hall finishes the tournament with a first place win.
Seton Hall’s sophomore Belfin Sunbul (Izmir, Turkey) had an outstanding finish of first place in the East Coast Championship for the “D” flight of singles matches. Sunbul was up against Ece Firat of St. John’s for the final match and won 6-2, 6-2. Sunbul was also seeded at number one in this flight.
Freshman Elizabeth Verow (Barnt Green, England) lost the final round of the singles “B” flight. Verow competed against Salome Mkervalize of Stony Brook, losing 6-0, 6-2. Verow struggled through this match dealing with numerous errors and bad timing.
In the consolation doubles round, freshman duo Courtney Kilarski (Roseville, C.A.) and Michelle Weerasinghe (Edina, M.N.) lost their match to Jenny Marotta and Emily Searle from the University of Connecticut; 8-6.
Seton Hall’s women’s tennis team will play in their next tournament in Niagara, New York. The Niagara Tournament will take place on October 3rd until October 5th.
