
Tennis Competes At Quinnipiac Invitational

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Seton Hall tennis team competed in doubles action on Friday at the Quinnipiac Invitational. Three out of four squads advanced to the second round, but were all the pairs were knocked out by the end of the quarterfinal round.
In the Doubles "A" bracket, the duo of sophomore Denise Liebschner (Weinboehla, Germany) and junior Danielle Viola (Niagara Falls) defeated Carapcea and Mannix of UMBC, 8-5. In the round of eight they were defeated by Army's Tollerton and Worford, 8-4.
Senior Nadja Shein (Tallinn, Estonia) and sophomore Alexandra Harvey (Chatham, N.J.) advanced to the second round of the Doubles "A" group after beating LoRusso and Campitiello of UConn, 8-4, but dropped their next match, 8-1 to the duo of Edelman and Bates from Binghamton.
Senior Amanda El-Tobgy (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and sophomore Liza Chu (Panama City, Panama) topped Quinnipiac's Steinert and Huard, 8-2, in Doubles "B" action. The pair dropped a hard fought quarterfinal contest to UConn's Herb and Moritz, 8-6.
Freshman Slavina Kaplanska (Sofia, Bulgaria) and sophomore Nathalie Ranger (Oakville, Ontario) dropped their initial match in the Doubles "B" bracket, and fell in the consolation bracket as well.
The Pirates continue action at the Quinnipiac Invitational on Sept. 22.
