
Women's Tennis Bests UConn, 5-2

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Seton Hall women's tennis team earned its second consecutive BIG EAST win against Connecticut on Friday. After dropping the No. 1 singles match, Seton Hall's No. 2-5 players earned victories. The Pirates improve to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
UConn's Kelley LoRusso took junior Amanda El-Tobgy (Pittsburgh, Pa.) to an extra point in the first set, but El-Tobgy took the set and eventually the match in straight sets. Junior Nadja Sein (Tallinn, Estonia) and senior Sylvia Jaros (Scarborough, Ontario) cruised to straight set victories.
In the most exciting contest of the day, sophomore Danielle Viola (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) defeated the Huskies' Ali Campitiello in three sets. The deciding round went to extra points where Viola prevailed, 14-12.
The pairs of Sein and Jaros and El-Tobgy and senior Iva Gyurgina (Radomir, Bulgaria) were victorious to take the doubles point.
The Pirates have their home opener on Tuesday, Mar. 27 against St. John's at 2:00 p.m.
