No. 73 DePaul Sweeps Women's Tennis

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Seton Hall women’s tennis team lost to the No. 73 DePaul Blue Demons, 7-0, at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium on the campus of Marquette University on Friday. The loss drops the Pirates to 8-8 overall, 2-3 in the BIG EAST, while DePaul improves to 13-5, 4-1 in the conference.
Only junior Ebru Burduroglu (Istanbul, Turkey) managed to force a third set in singles play, but lost her No. 6 match to Brenda Leung in the tiebreaker, 6-3, 6-7, 1-0. Also in singles, freshman Danielle Viola (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) nearly forced a third set in her No. 4 match with Anja Mihaldinec, but fell, 6-1, 7-5.
SHU was swept in the doubles matches. The team of junior Iva Gyurgina (Radomir, Bulgaria) and sophomore Amanda El-Tobgy (Pittsburgh, Pa.) were the most competitive tandem, losing their No. 2 match to Dunja Antunovic and Mihaldinec, 8-6.
Seton Hall returns to BIG EAST action on Saturday, Apr. 1, when the Pirates take on Marquette at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium at 9:00 a.m.
