
Tennis Ends Fall Season at ITA Championship

HANOVER, N.H. The Seton Hall tennis team sent four Pirates to the ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Dartmouth University over the weekend, but none advanced past the first round. The tournament ends play for the Pirates’ fall season.

In doubles play, the pair of junior Amanda El-Tobgy (Pittsburgh, Pa) and senior Iva Gyurgina (Radomir, Bulgaria) lost to 14th seeded Janet Kim and Jesse Rhee of Yale, 8-0. Sein and senior Ebru Burduroglu (Istanbul, Turkey) battled Quinnipiac’s Gabby Pasternak and Mary Wilson, but the Pirates fell, 8-3.
El-Tobgy also competed in the singles qualifying draw. She lost to Christine Alford of Yale, 7-6 (3), 6-2.
Play continues at the ITA Northeast Regional Championship until Tuesday, Oct. 24.
The tournament is the last of the fall season for the Pirates, but they will resume play in the spring.
