2026 BIG EAST STANDINGS
BIG EAST STATISTICAL LEADERS

PREVIEW
Seton Hall will return to action this weekend for its final non-conference tournament of the season, the NJIT Invitational. The Pirates will face host NJIT on Thursday, Iona Friday and New Haven on Saturday.

MEDIA
All three Seton Hall matches this weekend will be streamed live on America East TV, and all will have Live Stats.

SCOUTING NJIT
Seton Hall and NJIT will meet for the second time this season as the Highlanders took part in the season-opening Seton Hall Classic in August. The Pirates improved to 10-2 all-time against NJIT with a 3-0 sweep in Walsh Gym on Aug. 30.

NJIT enters the weekend with a 1-10 overall record and having lost seven straight matches. Immediately after playing Seton Hall on Aug. 30, the Highlanders edged Manhattan in five sets for their lone win of the year. Most recently, NJIT was swept by both Central Connecticut State and BIG EAST rival St. John's on Saturday. Ema Torres paces the Highlander offense with 2.97 kills per set.

SCOUTING IONA
Seton Hall and Iona will meet for the 15^th time in history on Friday with the Pirates having won all 14 prior meetings, including a sweep of the Gaels last season. Further showing its all-time dominance in the series, The Hall has only lost one of one of 43 all-time sets against Iona and it was during a meeting in 2003.

Iona is coming off an 11-21 season in 2025, which included a 6-12 mark in MAAC play.

The Gaels are picked to finish ninth this season, according to The Metro's preseason coaches' poll. Sophomore Julia Leonardo was named to the preseason all-conference team. Iona enters the weekend with a 4-5 record with victories over Houston Christian, Lafayette, Central Connecticut State and NJIT. Most recently, it was swept by St. John's on Saturday. Julia Leonardo leads the team with 3.79 kills per set. Avery Gaume leads the defense with 4.34 digs per set.

SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
Seton Hall and New Haven will meet for the first time ever on Saturday to wrap up the NJIT Invitational.

New Haven is coming off a rough 5-22 campaign in 2025, which included a 4-12 mark in Northeast Conference play.

This season, New Haven is picked to finish fifth in the 8-team NEC, according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll and it garnered a first-place vote. The Chargers enter the weekend with a 1-8 record. Their lone victory of the season came over Saint Peter's in four sets back on Aug. 29. Since, New Haven has lost six matches in a row, and hasn't won a set in the last four. Most recently, they were swept by both Binghamton and Cornell on Saturday. Lauren MacKellar is averaging a team-best 4.10 kills per set.

UP NEXT
After the NJIT Invitational, the Pirates will open BIG EAST Conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 23 when it faces long-time, local rival St. John's in Queens. Match time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
