
Aguilar Only a Stroke Behind; Pirates in Fourth at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Sophomore Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) is only one stroke off the individual lead and has led the Seton Hall women's golf team to a fourth-place standing after two rounds of the 2026 Rutgers Invitational on Saturday.

Aguilar had three birdies in route to a sparking even-par, 71, in round one. In the afternoon, she had two more and carded a 5-over-par, 76. Currently, she's in second place among 88 individual golfers with a 5-over-par, 71-76-147. Penn's Mi Li is the current leader with 18 holes remaining at 4-over-par.

As a team, The Hall is currently in fourth place after two rounds. The Pirates shot a 28-over-par, 312, during a windy first round. The Hall shaved off eight strokes as the wind reduced to finish with a 20-over-par, 304, in round two. For the tournament, the Pirates are 48-over-par with a 312-304-616. Host Rutgers is the current team leader at 30-over-par.Â

With the BIG EAST Tournament on the horizon, it's notable that Seton Hall is ahead of Georgetown, which is tied for fifth at 52-over-par, and St. John's, which is in ninth place at 62-over-par.

Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) also had a strong first day. The junior shot a 6-over-par, 77, in round one, but shaved off three strokes in the afternoon, thanks to three birdies, for a 3-over-par, 74. For the tournament, she's currently tied for 10th place overall with a 9-over-par, 77-74-151.

Senior Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) shot a 10-over-par, 81, in round one, but shaved off three strokes in round two to finish a 6-over-par, 77. Currently, she's tied for 37th place with a 16-over-par, 81-77-158.Â

Freshman Isabella Stewart (Wicklow, Ireland) and junior Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) are currently tied for 43rd place overall at 18-over-par after two rounds. Both Pirates had a dramatic improvement during day one of the Rutgers Invitational. After shooting a 12-over-par, 83, in round one, they both shaved off six strokes for a 6-over-par, 77, in round two.Â

Competing as an individual, senior Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) also improved in round two. After a first round 16-over-par, 87, she shaved off two strokes for a 14-over-par, 85, in round two. She's currently 30-over-par with an 87-85-172.

Over 6,300 yards in length, the picturesque, tree-lined, PGA sanctioned course is a par 71 and offers a challenging layout with four teeing areas per hole. The 18-hole Rutgers University Golf Course is open to the general public and tee times start at 7 am weekdays and 6 am on weekends in the height of the season. Our targeted opening and closing dates, weather permitting, are March 1 and December 15.

Developed from a 9 hole facility, Rutgers University Golf Course was reopened on May 29, 1963 as an 18 hole facility. The course is located on Rutgers University's Busch Campus in Piscataway, and nearby points of interest are The Waksman Institute, Rutgers Medical School and multiple athletic facilities, including SHI Stadium. The mission of the course is to ensure that every player enjoys a timely round of golf played on superior fairways and true greens with uncompromising service and instruction.

Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

SCHEDULE:
The field will play two continuous rounds on Saturday beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. On Sunday, there will be one final round, also with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Seton Hall will be paired with golfers from Dartmouth and Quinnipiac on Saturday, beginning on holes 1 through 4.
