NEW YORK – Seton Hall's Zahara Bishop (Minneapolis, Minn.) was named BIG EAST Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week and teammate Ja'Kahla Craft (Elk River, Minn.) earned Weekly Honor Roll distinction on Monday.
Â
It's the second time this season that Bishop has received the weekly conference recognition.
Â
Bishop continued her strong freshman season in a pair of Seton Hall victories last week. The guard came off the bench to score a game-high 20 points in under 21 minutes in the Pirates' victory at Marquette on Wednesday. She was 6-for-9 from the floor, which included 2-for-3 from three-point range, and pulled down six rebounds. On Saturday against DePaul, she added seven points. For the week, she averaged 13.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game.
Â
Craft had the best week of her collegiate career in wins over Marquette and DePaul. The sophomore led Seton Hall with 16.5 points per game and pulled down 7.5 rebounds per contest. On Wednesday at Marquette, Craft had seven points and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds in a 12-point, Seton Hall road victory. On Saturday against DePaul, Craft had one of the best scoring performances in Seton Hall history. She played a perfect game, breaking Seton Hall's single-game record for efficiency with a minimum of 10 attempts by going 11-for-11 from the field, including 4-for-4 from three-point range. She finished with a game-high 26 points, which doubled her previous career-high in scoring. She also had four rebounds in the all-time performance.
Â
Connecticut's Azzi Fudd was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Those joining Craft on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll include: Marquette's Skylar Forbes, Providence's Sabou Gueye, St. John's Sa'Mya Wyatt and Villanova's Jasmine Bascoe.
Â
Seton Hall will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 18 when it heads to Cincinnati, Ohio for a BIG EAST contest against Xavier. Tip time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed live by ESPN+.
