
Pirates Look to Extend Unbeaten Streak Thursday Against Lafayette

South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's soccer team concludes its four-game homestand to open the season on Thursday night when it plays host to Lafayette at Owen T. Carroll Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. with live coverage of the match available on ESPN+.

Gianna Angelillo secured her second brace in just three matches this season as the Pirates played Rider to a 2-2 draw. In the 47th minute, Angelillo received a pass from Jordana Bello about 35 yards from goal. She took a few dribbles in and ripped a shot from just outside the 18-yard box into the upper 90 on the far side of the goal. Later in the 65th minute, Angelillo would strike again to double the Pirate lead. The Broncs would respond with a pair of late goals to force the 2-2 draw.

- The Pirates have erupted to open the 2025 season, going unbeaten through their first three matches of a season for the first time since 2012.
- A Pirate has recorded a brace in all three games so far this season. Gianna Angelillo has done so twice, scoring a pair of goals against both Monmouth and Rider. Freshman Paige Shaughnessy also notched a two-goal performance, doing so in the win over Iona.
- Shaughnessy's brace allowed her to receive BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday. She is the first Pirate to receive Freshman of the Week honors since Lily Camacho on Aug. 28, 2023.
- Head Coach Josh Osit enters his fourth season at the helm of the Seton Hall women's soccer program in 2025.
- This year marks the first time in Osit's tenure that the Pirates have been unbeaten through the first three matches of a season.
- Seton Hall has posted its most points in a two-year span since 2007-08 and has placed players on the all-conference team in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2010-11.
- In just his second season in 2023, Osit guided the Pirates to 10 points in conference matches, the most for the program since 2011.
- Osit inherited a program that has posted just 12 points in BIG EAST play over the previous four seasons combined.
- Osit's signing class was ranked No. 29 in the nation by TopDrawerSoccer.com back in April, marking the second straight season in which the Pirates had a top-50 class from the publication.
- The Pirates welcome in an exciting group of new talent in 2025, welcoming in 13 newcomers consisting of three transfers and 10 freshmen.
- Gianna Angelillo transfers in from Louisville by way of Miami, playing a total of 27 matches over her first two seasons of collegiate soccer. Brianna Azevedo (Rutgers) and Shea Boyle (Boston College) also bring previous college experience to the team this season.
- Of the 10 freshmen coming to South Orange, three were included in TopDrawerSoccer's rankings: Isabella Calabro (152nd), Jordana Bello (153rd) and Danni Hennessy (197th).
