
Tran Helps Fuel Second Place Finish at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Sophomore Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) shot an even-par, 71, on Sunday to lift the Seton Hall women's golf team to second-place finish at the 2025 Rutgers Invitational.

Tran had her best round of the spring, using five birdies to fuel an even round. For the tournament, she tied for 14th place with a 15-over-par, 81-76-71-228.

The top individual golfer for Seton Hall for the weekend was freshman Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain). The Pirates' newcomer had three birdies in route to a 2-over-par, 73, on Sunday. For the tournament, she tied for fifth place among 92 individual golfers with a 12-over-par, 75-77-73-225. It's Aguilar's third-consecutive top-5 finish and her fourth of the year in nine tournaments.

Rutgers' Emily James won the individual title on her home course at 6-over-par.

As a team, The Hall moved up one spot on Sunday to finish second behind host Rutgers. The Pirates had their best round of the tournament in round three with a 13-over-par, 297. For the three-round event, Seton Hall was 59-over-par with a 309-305-297-911. Rutgers, playing on their home course, won the event going away at 29-over-par. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, St. John's, finished tied for 10th at 102-over-par.

Senior Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) had a birdie and 12 pars in route to a 4-over-par, 75, on Sunday. For the tournament, she tied for 20th place with a 17-over-par, 77-78-75-230. Only one stroke behind finished junior Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark). She tied for 25th place with an 18-over-par, 79-74-78-231.

Rounding out the Pirates' lineup, sophomore Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) closed out her tournament with an 8-over-par, 79. For the event, she was 26-over-par with a 78-82-79-239.

Playing as an individual, freshman Amelie Gras (Elancourt, France) tied for 25th place with a 19-over-par, 75-77-80-232.

THE COURSE
Over 6,300 yards in length, the picturesque, tree-lined, PGA sanctioned course is a par 71 and offers a challenging layout with four teeing areas per hole. Highlights include narrow fairways, fast greens, and water hazards on seven holes. The 18-hole Rutgers University Golf Course is open to the general public and tee times start at 7 am weekdays and 6 am on weekends in the height of the season. Our targeted opening and closing dates, weather permitting, are March 1 and December 15.

Developed from a 9-hole facility, Rutgers University Golf Course was reopened on May 29, 1963 as an 18 hole facility. The course is located on Rutgers University's Busch Campus in Piscataway, and nearby points of interest are The Waksman Institute, Rutgers Medical School and multiple athletic facilities, including SHI Stadium. The mission of the course is to ensure that every player enjoys a timely round of golf played on superior fairways and true greens with uncompromising service and instruction.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Rutgers, the large field was comprised of 16 other teams including: Albany, Bryant, Dartmouth, Fairfield, FDU, Hofstra, Lehigh, LIU, Merrimack, Monmouth, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, Siena and Stonehill. BIG EAST competitor St. John's is also in the field.

Teams played five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.
