
Aguilar Named to All-Tournament Team as Pirates Wrap BIG EAST

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Freshman Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) shot an even-par, 72, in the final round of the BIG EAST Championship and was named to the All-Tournament Team as the Seton Hall women's golf team wrapped up play on Monday.

Aguilar started her final round on fire, collecting birdies on three of her first five holes. The start vaulted her back to the top of the individual leaderboard. After a double-bogey on hole No. 8 and a bogey on No. 9, Aguliar steadied herself and was even on the back nine. In all, she had four birdies on Monday to fuel an even-par, 72. For the tournament, she was 4-over-par with a 71-77-72-220.

While Aguilar did nothing on Monday to lose the tournament, Xavier's Emma Welch shot a 4-under-par, 68, to become the first player to win the BIG EAST Championship in back-to-back years.

For her efforts this week, Aguilar was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. She's the first Seton Hall women's golfer to earn All-Tournament since Maddie Sager during the 2021 event. Aguilar is also only the second Seton Hall freshman to earn the impressive distinction.

As a team, The Hall shot a 20-over-par, 308, in Monday's final round. The Pirates were able to hop Butler for a fourth-place finish, but finished two strokes shy of overcoming Creighton for third. Seton Hall finished the tournament with a 68-over-par, 320-304-308-932. Overall, Seton Hall was solid in rounds two and three, but ultimately, couldn't climb out of their significant round one hole.

Xavier claimed its sixth consecutive BIG EAST title, winning event by 23 strokes, and earning the BIG EAST's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals. Georgetown came in second place at 35-over-par.

Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain), playing in her final collegiate round, didn't disappoint. The senior was 2-under-par over her final 10 holes, using three birdies to fuel a 1-over-par, 73, on Monday. For the tournament, she improved each day, placing 14th with a 16-over-par, 81-78-73-232.

Freshman Amelie Gras (Elancourt, France) had a rough start to round three, shooting 7-over-par on the front nine, but was even on the back. For the tournament, she was 22-over-par with an 84-74-80-238.

Sophomore Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) shot an 11-over-par, 83, in round three. For the tournament, she was 29-over-par with an 87-75-83-245.

Subbing in for round three, Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) got into the BIG EAST Championship action on Monday. The junior had two birdies on the front nine and was only 4-over-par, but struggled on the back. For the round, Ekman shot a 12-over-par, 84.
